Italian Product Review: Aceto di Vino Chianti DOC by Acetificio Mengazzoli

Acetificio Mengazzoli specializes in the production of gourmet condiments and vinegars. Over the past few days we’ve had the pleasure of sampling a few of their high quality products.

To paraphrase the producer:

Our wine vinegar is obtained from selected wines, the red and white wine vinegar is top quality vinegar. The selection of wine vinegars includes vinegar from a single species of grapevine and vinegar matured in barrels obtained from a slow acetification of grape must. The vinegars obtained from a single species of grapevine DOC and GTT are characterized by the persistent taste of origin wine (Pinot Grey, Lambrusco, Merlot, Cabernet and Chianti) while vinegars matured in “barriques” are preserved in barrels where they acquire a unique flavor and fragrance making them an ideal combination for meats and vegetables.

Among Team Abbondanza! favorites is the Aceto di Vino Chianti DOC. An exquisite product with a rich and smooth flavor that has proven to liven up a variety of our dishes ranging from salads to antipasti crudo, meat and even a few seafood dishes. Sadly, our experimenting came to an end because our bottles were empty. A highly recommended product.
